Last week's nor'easter paled compared with the big back-to-back lake effect snowstorms in the Buffalo area.
But the nor'easter dumped up to a foot of snow in New Jersey and up to 20 inches elsewhere, disrupted Thanksgiving-related travel and caused power outages for thousands.
NJ Thanksgiving travel could be slowed by snow
Snowfall totals in New Jersey include 12.5 inches in Montague, 8.2 inches in South Bethlehem, 8.1 inches in Lake Hopatcong, 5.5 inches in Blairstown, 3 inches in Peapack-Gladstone, 2.8 inches in South Plainfield and 2 inches in Hopewell Township, according to unofficial reports to the National Weather Service Mount Holly Office.
Nor'easter: 12 inches of snow possible in North Jersey
Snowfall totals elsewhere include: 20 inches in Paw Paw, West Virginia; 18.4 inches in Madison, New Hampshire; 16.5 inches in Orwell, Vermont; 15.1 inches in Peru, Massachusetts; 15 inches in Lewiston, Maine; 14.6 inches in Warrensburg, New York; and 14 inches in Upper Strasburg, Pennsylvania, according to the weather service Eastern Region Headquarters.
Northwestern New Jersey may get some light snow and sleet on Tuesday, possibly followed by freezing rain on Tuesday night, according to the Mount Holly Office. The wintry precipitation is expected to have its greatest impact in elevated terrain.
The weather service forecast for Jackson calls for a slight chance of rain, snow and sleet before 11 a.m. Tuesday, likely followed by rain. Little or no sleet and snow accumulation is expected.
The Freehold forecast calls for a chance of rain and sleet before 11 a.m., then rain likely. Little snow or sleet accumulation is anticipated.
